Confession: I love leopard print and I have always been on the bandwagon that leopard is a neutral but I’m also a big believer that a little goes a looooong way. This fall leopard is popping up everywhere so I thought I would share some of my favorite rules of thumb to go by when adding it to your wardrobe and outfit.

For me personally, I prefer just a pop of leopard because I feel like leopard print can easily become wayyy too much. I tend to be one that goes totally neutral and then add a little leopard print in. My go-to looks are the chic all-black look and the classic jeans and crisp white blouse. Both of the base outfits are perfect to add  a little leopard print into. Or if your want to wear a leopard print blouse, try a solid black pant or darker wash blue jean. This helps keep it subtle and classic… aka helps limit the “What was I thinking?!” inner monologue in a few years when you look back on old pics haha.

Here are my favorite DO’s when styling leopard print:

DO: Stay neutral. Don’t try to mix other prints in your outfit. Leopard print tends to be busy so adding in other prints tend to just create more busyness. You don’t want to be a human art project.

DO: Pair with classic colors. My favorites are black, white, denim and sometimes a pop of red or pink.

DO: Play it down wearing timeless looks. An all black outfit with a leopard belt, scarf or heel can be super chic without looking like you are trying too hard.

DO: Add a little leather with your leopard print. Some of my favorite ways to style the two together are with a gorgeous leather moto jacket, or go a little more dressy and style it with a leather skirt – leopard and leather can create chic city style.

DO: Stick to one piece in your outfit to wear leopard print. An accessory, sweater or shoes. Don’t over do the look with multiple leopard print pieces.

DO: Have fun with it. Get out of your comfort zone a little and just feel confident. Leopard print, in my opinion, is up there with wearing red lipstick… put it on and own the moment. You are strong, smart, and gorgeous – allow yourself to feel that way!
