This past weekend, we had the privilege of attending the Selah Gala. It was our first time to go to this event and what an incredible blessing it was to learn more about the wonderful work this organization is doing. Global Renewal is an organization that helps rescue young girls from the horrific epidemic of sex trafficking.
In 2011, Global Renewal launched a safehouse (Selah House) for the victims in Cambodia. This allows the organization to provide the victims with a safe environment. This location provides a place where their well-trained team gives the young girls an opportunity for healing and restoration, both physically and emotionally.
Their team works with these young girls for countless hours during this process of healing. Their goal is to reunite them with their families after this extensive time of being restored.
We were truly blown away by the stories of extreme evil and cruelty. Our hearts have been forever changed. One of my greatest takeaways from the evening was how God can do amazing and miraculous things even in the worst of situations. The speakers shared about these beautiful children who had been rescued and how their lives had been saved. It was so encouraging to know that our prayers and contributions of time, energy and money can make a difference in the lives of so many. We just have to be willing to take the first step in joining the fight to end sex trafficking.
What better use of our time and energy could there be, than to help raise awareness for such an incredible cause?! This is not just a third world issue. It is happening in our own country every day. I was appalled to hear that Houston, TX and Atlanta, GA are two of the largest hubs for trafficking in the world. Please take the time today to educate yourself on what sex trafficking is and if your heart is touched, look into ways you can help!
